Our Story
Vitalsourcecooking was born from a simple observation: many people want to eat healthier but feel overwhelmed by conflicting nutritional advice and complicated recipes. Our founders, a team of passionate food educators based in Heraklion, Greece, decided to change that narrative.
Starting with small community workshops in local neighborhoods, we realized that free, transparent, and practical education could transform how people approach cooking at home. The Mediterranean traditions of our region—celebrating whole foods, seasonal ingredients, and shared meals—became the foundation of our teaching philosophy.
Today, our free online classes reach hundreds of curious home cooks who want to understand the fundamentals of preparing nourishing food without jargon, pressure, or fads. We believe that knowledge about cooking and nutrition should be accessible to everyone, regardless of skill level or budget.
Our Mission & Core Values
Our Mission
To provide free, evidence-based culinary education that empowers people to prepare wholesome meals with confidence, creativity, and a deep appreciation for quality ingredients.
Accessibility
We believe healthy cooking knowledge should never be locked behind paywalls or exclusive memberships. Our entire platform remains free and open to anyone who wants to learn, regardless of background or experience level.
Transparency
We source our teaching materials from peer-reviewed research and reputable culinary institutions. We disclose our methodology, cite our sources, and encourage critical thinking rather than blind adherence to dogma.
Community
Cooking is a social act. We foster a supportive environment where learners can share recipes, ask questions, and celebrate each other's progress without judgment or competition.
Culinary Heritage
We celebrate the Mediterranean culinary traditions of Greece while remaining open to global cooking techniques and ingredients. Traditional wisdom and modern knowledge inform everything we teach.
Practical Skills
Our classes focus on real-world application. You'll learn knife skills, ingredient selection, cooking techniques, and meal planning—not theory divorced from the kitchen counter.

Why We Exist
Cooking Should Be Demystified
Many people feel intimidated by cooking because they lack basic knowledge about ingredients, techniques, or food safety. We break these barriers by teaching fundamentals in a friendly, non-judgmental environment.
Free Access Matters
Quality education about cooking and food literacy should not depend on someone's ability to pay. We offer all our content free because we believe access to knowledge is a fundamental right, not a luxury product.
Trustworthy Information Saves Time
Online cooking and health information is often contradictory, sponsored by product companies, or oversimplified. Our materials are research-informed and written with integrity so you can make confident choices in your own kitchen without second-guessing everything.
Practical Skills Last a Lifetime
Learning to cook well is one of the most practical skills a person can develop. It affects daily nutrition, food budgets, family health, and quality of life. We're proud to help people build these skills.
What Students Say About Us
"I thought I could never cook properly—I always felt lost in the kitchen. Sofia's classes made everything click. She explains the 'why' behind each step, not just the 'how.' Now I actually enjoy preparing dinner for my family, and they notice the difference in the food. Best part? It's completely free."
Katerina Mitropoulou
Rethymno, Crete
"As a journalist, I'm trained to recognize good information from bad. Vitalsourcecooking sources everything properly and doesn't push unnecessary products or fads. That transparency is exactly what we need in food education. I've recommended the courses to all my colleagues."
Nikos Papadopoulos
Heraklion, Crete
"I started these classes during the pandemic when I had time at home. Now I actually understand basic knife skills, seasoning, timing—things that always felt mysterious before. Yannis and Maria make you feel welcome even if you've never held a decent knife. The community is genuinely supportive, not competitive."
